Fuel Session: Diabetes 101

On Wednesday (3/21) Peggy Williamson, Harbin Clinic Dietician, will present “Diabetes 101” at 12 noon in the Education Center on the 2nd floor of the Main Clinic. (Sorry for any confusion about the location.)

Peggy will discuss the basics of the disease and the principles of the diet. Enjoy an engaging discussion about Diabetes and how to help yourself or someone close to you make better food choices.

Health Tip from HealthDay News: Pack a Healthy, Easy Lunch

A quick, healthy lunch can be easy to make, delicious, and satisfying — and it can keep you out of the fast-food drive through.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics offers these quick and healthy lunch ideas:

  • Combine some whole wheat couscous with black beans or chick peas for protein.
  • Make a whole wheat tortilla wrap stuffed with skinless grilled chicken breast and veggies — use mushrooms, tomatoes and onions.
  • Make a baked potato and top it with salsa, broccoli, low-fat sour cream and a little low-fat cheese.
  • Toss a spinach salad with some low-fat feta cheese, chopped red onions and pears.
